This beautiful portrait of the girl before the mirror is a painting of the artist's girlfriend Daria. Daria heavily influenced the artist as a person and appeared in a number of his paintings, mostly portraits, created during his student years at the Academy of Arts and improved and reworked in later years. Usually, the artist created photographs of her and worked with them in a studio, but some paintings were made from life posing in plein-air fashion.
